Reasons Why People Give Up

This is a great info graph on why people give up – whether it’s fulfilling their dreams, maintaining a healthy body, or taking risks. I’m pretty sure we can identify with a few of these reasons at some point in our lives. Of course, it’s much easier to identify these issues rather than to deal with them directly. But in order to move forward in life we must remove these mental stumbling blocks we’ve created for ourselves. Remember, victory and defeat will always start in our minds. So it’s important to think the best of ourselves, maintain a positive outlook in life, and have a heart of gratitude as we look to the future. This’ll make all the difference as we pursue our dreams and create the life we want to live.

A brush with death fosters thankfulness.

This weekend I had a bit of a scare as my dad collapsed in front of me. Since then I’ve been replaying the scenario of what I could’ve and should’ve have done, kicking myself for not having enough sense to pick up on the warning signs, and haunted by ‘if only I had done this and that’ then he wouldn’t have fallen. Unfortunately, this way of thinking can torment us with regret, guilt, and grief. And in the days to come, we may be tempted to overcompensate, control, and protect our loved ones based on fear. The fact is I did what I could under the circumstances I was in without knowing my dad would’ve collapsed. Although he had a brush with death, he seems to be doing okay today. It was a sobering reminder that we can’t completely protect our loved ones from harm – all we can really do is be thankful that we have another day with them.

Fight for love.

Keep moving & keep growing.

IMG_2170-0Don’t ever give up. Believe in yourself. Celebrate every small victory. Look back with satisfaction and look forward with hope. Everyday is new opportunity to grow, discover, and learn despite past hurts, regrets, or mistakes. Don’t compare yourself with others as life unfolds for each person in their own time. Drop the ego and practice humility on a daily basis. Don’t be content with what you know, always be a learner. Be kind, especially to those who can’t repay you back. Practice self-control by desiring fewer things. Learn to de-clutter your living space, office space, and especially your mental space. If you’re feeling lost, get back to the basics. It’s okay to start over with life, love, and your dreams.

Love’s a drug & everyone’s a junkie.

junkieWhether you’re single or taken, love affects us all – we need it, give it, and use it. Every one of us has this immeasurable longing to be loved and deep desire to give love to our friends, family, and the world at large. Although love itself cannot be seen it can be visible through our actions towards one another and it can be felt in our hearts beyond words can ever articulate.

Valentine’s Day is for all of us, not just for some. This day is a wonderful reminder of our greatest gift to one another – our capability to give love and to receive love. As we embrace this truth and embody this love in every part of our lives, may we see the transformation within ourselves and in the lives around us. Happy Love Day!

15 Time Wasters Successful People Avoid.

IMG_2116-0I don’t know about you but I have the tendency to think I have all the time in the world; to complete tasks, fulfill my dreams, and spend time with loved ones. But when we think this way we begin to procrastinate, let opportunities slip through our fingers, and we can become lethargic and lazy. Before we know it, life has passed us by without having much to show for it. Our unfulfilled dreams slowly turn into regrets and we believe it’s too late to make up for lost time.

The bad news is that time does fly but the good news is that we’re in control of how we spend or invest it. First, we need to take an honest inventory on where our time is going. Second, we need to prioritize and ruthlessly cut out things, apps, or people out of our lives. Third, just start – write the first page of that book, turn that blueprint invention into a reality, apply for that dream job. Here are some tips on how we can make the most use of our time, and make the most of our lives:

Be impressive without having to impress.

IMG_2029
Stop trying to please or impress people. Don’t let your self-worth be measured in how many social media friends you have or how many likes you get on a post. Don’t buckle under the weight of rejection or criticism, don’t let mere words crush your unwavering spirit – you’re stronger than that. You’re more than what people say or do to you.

You’re a brilliant beautiful being who can create, inspire, and give. Use your time to explore who you are and discover what you like. Love yourself by letting go of other people’s opinions of you. Impress yourself rather than trying to win the approval of others. Amaze yourself by being true to who you are. Surprise yourself by taking the time to get to know yourself, and I guarantee you’ll be in awe.

Might not be today but you’ll be ok.

2015/01/img_1736-0.jpg There will be days when you’re not feeling your best, when you’d rather stay in bed than face the day. Some days living your best just might mean trying to make it through the day. And that’s ok. Be gentle and kind to yourself during these times for it’s the loving thing you can do. I know you may not believe it today but brighter days are just ahead.
