Tips for Everyday Exercise

I’ve always been mindful of being proactive through the little things I do; like eating right, sleeping early, being thankful, and moving my body. With the warmer weather here, it’s been a treat to go outside for picnics, walk along the beach, and bike at night. Since I don’t buy a gym pass, I like to exercise through simple and free means like walking to the grocery store, vacuuming the house (which I really dislike), doing the dishes by hand, baking, gardening, or going for a walk after dinner. Although these simple activities will take up a part of our day, it’ll help us to slow down in life and benefit our health in the long run.

My Musings for Today

Don’t do it, don’t do it – don’t second-guess or doubt yourself. Better to take risks than to do nothing at all. Move forward with confidence but take things in strides. Know your worth then surround yourself with people who know it too. Take risks. Have the courage to express the voice within. Work with people who you like and respect. Don’t say yes when you really want to say no. Stop being a people pleaser. Never compromise your values, beliefs, and convictions. Put love before work. Always work on your craft. Find a hobby in the midst of pursuing your dreams. Forgive yourself and others. Lessons learned, no regrets. Foster gratitude everyday. Instead of making assumptions, ask for clarification. Make time for people, especially those who could use a helping hand. Fill your heart with so much love that there’s no room for hatred. If you’re unhappy with some part of your life, change it. Don’t complain. Never ever put yourself down in thought, word, or deed. Replace pride with humility. Be generous with your time, money, and resources because you can’t take it with you once you’re dead. Invest in people through kindness, gentleness, and patience. Always be hopeful, joyful, and thankful.

Unveil your 6-pack abs – summer’s right around the corner.

Well it’s almost that time of the year again, where we bring our pasty pale bodies out of winter hibernation and into the basking warm sunshine. I don’t know about you but exercising and eating healthy definitely took a backseat for me this past winter while lounging and snacking made itself right at home. And now with the warmer weather here, I’m desperately trying to lose the reserves around my love handles so I can squeeze into my shorts and bathing suit, without scaring the kiddies off the beach. Here are some simple and effective ways on how to unveil your 6-pack abs – trust me, they’re under there somewhere.

If you want to do something, you have to do something.

one stepIf you want to lose weight, it starts with the first step. If you want to write a book, it starts with the first page. If you want to do something, you have to do something. There’s no amount of meditation, inspiration, and thinking that’ll help you accomplish your goal if you don’t take action. Stop humming and hawing on how you’re going to do and just start from where you are. Sometimes, overthinking can paralyze you and stump you from moving forward. Go on your first run, and see the domino effect on your mind and body, write that first page and see how the story unfolds. You’re not going to have it all figured out before you start, so you might as well just go for it! Trust the process and enjoy the journey.

Offended? Ask for clarification!

IMG_2342Sometimes, it’s easy to misunderstand what people are saying and we can easily get offended by their words – especially from those who are closest to us. But before we judge, condemn, or scold them; it’s wise to ask them for clarification on what they meant rather than assuming the worst. This act alone will clear up any misunderstandings, open doors to effective communication, and save us a lot of heartache. So before we get offended by someone’s words, let’s ask them what they meant in a non-threatening way.

Goals to accomplish vs. commitments to virtue

Usually at the beginning of every year, I set goals. But this year, I decided I wasn’t going to set goals to accomplish but rather make commitments to strengthen my character and build my relationships.

Don’t misunderstand me, setting goals are important and have their place but I don’t want to neglect other areas in my life that need my attention and time. The most important things in life aren’t success or productivity but rather the quality of our relationships and the development of our character. This year, I want to focus on becoming a better, kinder, and more loving person – to love despite the hurt, to give without expecting anything in return, to forgive without the apology. I want to think the best of situations, not judge people by my interpretation, remain modest at all times, give kindness to those who don’t deserve it, and love where it’s not reciprocated. I want to use my time to make a lasting difference and strive to be selfless rather than selfish. Instead of pointing the finger at someone else, I’m going to work on myself, instead of blaming, I’m going to take responsibility for my actions.

This year, I’m going to make a conscious effort to live my days with gratitude, wonderment, contentment, peace and joy. I want to stop, breathe, listen, and take moments in. I want to disengage with my electronic gadgets and engage with people in person by being attentive and alert. Of course, I have goals I want to pursue but I believe they’ll naturally fall into place as I’m living out my best.

12 commitments for 2104:

  • Love despite being hurt.
  • Give without expecting.
  • Forgive without the apology.
  • Accept people or situations without judgment.
  • Think, believe, and speak the best.
  • Be humble and kind.
  • Be true to who you are.
  • Fearlessly share your feelings.
  • Take risks.
  • Work hard.
  • Discern what’s worth fighting for and what to let go.
  • Challenge yourself daily.

Welcome to a New Year and a better you!

Follow the way of true love.

I believe love, true love, really begins when you take away the emotions of the fluttering butterflies, when the colors of your days begin to fade, and you’re giving more than you’re receiving. True love looks at the person honestly, plainly for who they are and still chooses to accept them – even in their deteriorating appearance or lack of ability they once had. True love stands the test of time of hardship, misunderstanding, and passionless days. And it’s during these times, we must choose to love despite our lack of feelings in our heart. May we aim to follow this way of commitment to one another.
